First Weekend of Fall?

Well, fall has officially started. It almost feels like winter, though, it's been so cool! We are supposed to have a little warmer weather this coming week, but I think our heat wave is over. We are supposed to have a wet winter, too. There has already been snow up north in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.

Speaking of cool weather, we went up to Dixon's Apple Farms today to get apples and cider. They sold out of the champagne apples in a week. What a bummer! I'm not sure, but I don't think they had as many champagne apples this year, but they have a bumper crop of the rest of them. And they are good! Will send some to family in Texas and give some to my mother. Their prices went up, too. Last year a bag of apples went up from $8 to $10. This year they went up to $14. They were having a special on the cider, we got three gallons for $10. It's usually $5 a gallon. The gal at the checkout said they had people last weekend buying three and four wheelbarrows full. Saturday was a lot busier, she said, than Sunday. One of DJs on a local radio station said he stood in line for two hours last weekend to get apples. It has become quite a draw for people during the state fair and during the Balloon Fiesta.

While we were there, took some pictures of hubby to submit with his book for publication. I have about 40 more pages to go over and he should be able to send it back to them in the next few days.

Made is through this last week, working on two papers. The second one is not finished, but will have a little more time in which to finish it. Without the editor in the office I will be able to get some little projects done. I am "editor" while he is out of the country, but with very little authority, which is nothing new.

Will go on Tuesday for my mammogram, etc. Decided I had better get it done before I have to go out of town the end of October. Hubby will be going with me to Glorieta in early November for our staff retreat. There have been some changes made since we've been there, it's been a couple of years. So we're anxious to see how different it looks. Glorieta has a special place in our hearts, since that's where we met, at a singles retreat. I can remember being in Holcomb Auditorium and watching part of the first moon walk. They had a big screen set up. My parents and, my aunt and uncle had gone up there just for the day.

The UNM Lobos won their game last night, the Dallas Cowboys are not playing this weekend and the Denver Broncos play tonight. So we'll see how that goes tonight.

Spent yesterday catching up on all the programs we had recorded during the week with premieres. Looks like it may be another good season. The Celebrity Duets is ending this next week, I think. That has been an interesting show. Dancing With Stars is in its 3rd or 4th week. We've been enjoying that one, too.

Well, need to get busy on husband's manuscript. I think I can get it done tonight. I would like to. I don't want to have to do that this week, too. TTFN

Well, sounds like it has been busy there. It has been busy here too. I have been sick lately and it has been hurting my school life. Well I'll talk to you later. TTFN.
