I Got a Par!

P, M and I went out and played nine holes of golf this morning, left E and R at home. P said he would take E out with him on Friday. I hadn't played in about six months or more, but I didn't do too bad. I ended up getting par on the last hole, par 4. That's doing really good for me. I don't hardly get par even when I'm playing on a somewhat regular basis, so I was really excited. Stopped at Sonic on the way home and got some burgers and took them home for all of us. Sat down and ate and then took a shower. By the time we finished, about 11 a.m., it was starting to get hot. That air conditioner in the van felt good!

Will start packing for our trip tomorrow, so we can be all ready to go Friday night. Then we can just get up Saturday morning and go to the airport, since we have to be there about 5:40 in the morning! B and K are going to be there, too, so it will be a nice time. Planning on doing some swimming while we're there.

Still trying to get laundry done. Eddie washed a load while we were gone, it's in the dryer now. I have another load ready to wash.

Had some thunderstorms blow through yesterday afternoon. The weatherman reported gusts up to about 50 mph, but I think we had winds about 60 mph. It's getting breezy out there again, we may have some more scattered showers, but we didn't get much of anything yesterday, a few drops. We could sure use a good rain, it's so dry.

Watching some movies we picked up at Wal Mart the other day, checking e-mail and blogging. I guess I'll play a few games now.

Relax!

Well, we're just taking it easy today. Made another $40 at our yard sale, total about $100, but we still have a lot of junk left. The kids just came in from hitting a tennis ball back and forth. We're watching Wimbledon on TV, R is asleep on the floor. We had a storm blow by late yesterday, but we didn't get any rain. You could sure smell it in the air, though. It's a little breezy outside today, with some scattered clouds. I go to work tomorrow and then I'm off for two weeks. E went to see Steven last night, sounds like he had a good visit. Got some laundry in the dryer, I'll try to get another load or two done today. Try to get some more done so we have plenty of clothes for our trip. I'm a little nervous about flying, and about the airport security, since I haven't flown in many years. I did get a few tips from Judy at work, though. Been playing games online. Played Scene It! with Melissa last night while E was gone, then put R to bed and we went to bed. Didn't hear E when he came in. Well, I'm going to go put another load in the washer so it will be ready when the dryer is done.

Another week!

Whew! Another week is over. Putting the paper together today was surprisingly easy. Everything seemed to fit together almost perfectly, didn't have to do a lot of squeezing to get things to fit. I'm just glad John didn't decide to do 12 pages! We usually have two issues to get all the SBC news into, but this is our last issue before our two-week shutdown. So all the news had to fit in one issue. We'll finish it up on Monday, take it to the printer and then I'm on vacation for two weeks. Somewhat looking forward to our trip to Texas. Just a little apprehensive about airport security, I haven't flown anywhere since the '80s. But it will definitely be an experience. It will be nice to get away for a few days.

Pat made about $20 from one lady at the garage sale this afternoon, and that was it. We'll try again tomorrow, maybe Sunday, depending on how good we do on Saturday. Pulled out a few more things that might bring some more money. Saturday's usually the best day for garage sales.

It sure has been hot here, may get a shower this weekend. We could sure use it, it's dry again. There haven't been too many fires across the state yet, so maybe it won't be too bad this year.

We'll watch a little of Jay Leno and go to sleep, get up in the morning and get everything put out for the garage sale.

Progress Report

Well, we closed up the yard sale a little early today, not many lookers, probably because it's Father's Day. We made about $60 total. But we didn't have any really large or expensive items. We may try again next weekend, when we don't have a special day. I was thinking about asking some of those at work that travel about tips for packing for the airline security. I've heard some of them talking about packing everything in plastic bags. I haven't flown anywhere in a long, long time, like 1983 or '84. It will definitely be a different experience than back then. P chipped one of his front teeth today, so he's going to have to go to the dentist. He knew that tooth would break off sooner or later, it's been cracked, I think, for some time. E has been looking online for a job, and has gone to Manpower temp service. Sometimes those temporary jobs can turn into a permanent job.

Back to the Routine

Whew! First week back at work is over! It took two full days to get all my paperwork caught up. Then it's time to start the next week's paper. Got it pretty much finished before my boss left town for the annual meeting. It will be like a hurricane next Thursday afternoon and Friday to get the next one done with coverage of the annual meeting. Then we'll have our two-week shutdown and vacation time again. We're (my husband and I) are planning on flying out to Dallas for a short visit. Then I'll go back to work on the 11th.

We're having a garage sale today and tomorrow. The first thing we sold was an old computer with Windows 98 on it and a few other things. We've made a little bit of money, so far, about $30. It's always nice to get rid of some the junk that's taking up space. We had a lull, so I decided to update things.

Getting adjusted to having E and R as part of the household. The routine has changed a bit. M has had to start doing more. She does help with Richie, changing diapers, getting him a drink, etc. She's been going out with E, trying to find a job.

Settling In

Well, I think we're pretty much settled in after getting back from our trip to Norman and Altus. Little R is getting his clock adjusted pretty easily. It's going to take him some time, I think, once his daddy starts looking for a job, to adjust being away from daddy. But at least we have the summer for that. I go back to work tomorrow. I've been trying to get everything from our trip washed, just about caught up, now I need to get the rest of it done. It piles up a lot faster with two more people in the house.

We had a bit of a storm last night, mostly lightning, a little bit of rain, not much. But it was kind of humid this morning. It's partly cloudy and breezy today, it's going to be that way a few more days.

The I-40 & Coors project is progressing nicely, but Coors is down to basically one lane each way. It really causes a traffic jam sometimes.

We had a nice family meal today at lunch with all of us sitting at the table. We haven't done that in a long time. I think this has been good for our family. M seems to like having E home, so does P, I like having E and R here, and even the cats and dogs seems to be getting used to each other. So, it has been a good change in some ways.

The guys just went to rent some movies, so they should be back in a few minutes. Oops, here come the guys. Guess we'll watch a movie or two now.

What's Happening

Wow! Big changes are going on in our house. Our son has moved back home with our grandson. We're not used to having a little one around (2 years, 4 months). We're trying to get the house organized before I go back to work next Monday. And we came home with another cat to go with the one we already have, plus our two dogs. It's nice for my husband, a teacher, to have the summer off. He's looking at being able to retire after one more year. And I would like to quit working and stay home in the next couple of years. We had gotten comfortable with the way things were. But isn't that usually when it's time for a change? We do have to leave our comfort zones once in a while. It's going to mean more work for me with two more people in the house, but I'm enjoying it, because it's my son and grandson. Yes, I'd say it was time for a change.
