Another Week Done

Well, this was a long and tiring week. My week doesn't end until Monday, though, and starts again on Tuesday. Doing another color issue, so it takes a little longer to print. I'll be glad to get this one done.

I don't often get on my soap box, but there's something I've been meaning to talk about.

Our state legislature is in a 30-day session right now, which ends in mid-February. It's supposed to be a financial session. Last week some time, it was reported that there had already been 676 bills introduced.

Well, no wonder nothing ever gets done. There are several (maybe more!) "stupid" bills, that, I feel, have no place in our state legislature. There are too many important things that need to be taken care of, rather than stupid things like this. The governor is being ambitious, trying to spend all this money that has come from oil royalties. At least he's smart enough to allocate some of it to fast-track schools in Albuquerque. There are plans for two high schools on the West Side. And we have a bond election on Tuesday for APS and TVI. I think it should be another interesting election, to see how many are actually against this.

Another thing the governor is trying to push, that I'm not sure I agree with is the bullet train between Los Lunas and Santa Fe. Of course, it's going to be done in stages. But the first stage is between Los Lunas and Bernalillo. The most logical would be between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, but when did government ever do anything that made sense?

Then there's the Spaceport. It's to be built down by Truth or Consequences. But wouldn't it make more sense (here we go again) to build it down by Alamogordo and the White Sands Missle Range?

There's some more stupid things that are going on in the city, too, but I have to say I support Mayor Chavez in a lot of the things he's trying to do.

I'm not as into this government thing like my husband is, but he has always made sure that we all vote and exercise our civic right and duty.

We;re watching TVLand this morning, they're running The A-Team. It's been a while since we've seen any of these. It's fun to watch some of these old shows now and then. Just passing the time until game time.

Unfortunately, E has to be at work at 4 p.m., but I think they will have access to a TV and keep an eye on the game. At least P and I are pulling for the Seahawks, I'm not sure about E and M.

Hope everybody enjoys the game, regardless of who wins. Oh, and what about that halftime show? The Rolling Stones? TTFN

At least you have information about your elections and how is running and what items are before the legislature. Here in red neck country I see election signs but I can't find out if they are republican or democrat and when the election is. Our legislature is not in session. NM always has way more bills than are ever acted on. The governor always has his bills and every legislature has there's the trick is to get someone to sponser a bill for you. I'm so sorry to be out of the politics of NM. I know so many people in Santa Fe now that I might really be able to lobby. Have fun with your politics. I am so glad to see that they are funding all day kindergarten. Kindergarten is so good for Michelle. She is reading really well and doing simple math in kindergargen. I mailed a cassette player to R with a lot of cassette's. I hope D teaches him how to play them himself and lets me play them as much as he wants.
